    Anne Coffman

    Anne Coffman

Anne Coffman believes that the individual or congregational answer to the question: What is it about your relationship with Jesus Christ that this community cannot do without?  is  key to shaping the souls of both leaders and local churches.   She has been fully trained by Tom Bandy and Bill Easum in the use of the EBA church assessment tools and their coaching methods to ensure that clergy and congregations are prepared for God’s future.

In over twenty years of professional ministry in both settled and interim pastorates, Anne has guided and supported clergy, lay leaders, and churches in spiritual transformation and church growth, helping them to get to the “next level” in their ministries.

Anne’s theological training is from Yale Divinity School (M.Div) and Fuller Theological Seminary (D.Min) where her doctoral project was on the impact of music on evangelism.  She is a well-known teacher for workshops and she is a  frequent contributor to Net Results and other publications.  In 2007, she was a member of the worship team for the 50th anniversary celebration of the United Church of Christ for over 10,000 worshipers in Hartford, Connecticut.

Anne has been married to Paul  for 30 years and they have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and a granddaughter.

Aside from her coaching and consulting work with church leaders and churches, Anne has three sub-specialties which she uses to help churches and clergy to thrive in today’s world:

Worship: As an expert in worship, Anne combines the perspective of both musician and pastor.  She is a graduate of the University Of Wisconsin School Of Music where she was trained as an opera singer and she has sung professionally in both sacred and secular settings.  For two years, at Yale Divinity School, Anne has designed and led hundreds of worship services in a wide variety of styles.   She is also experienced in transitioning churches into new styles of music and worship.

Churches in Transition: As an intentional interim pastor, Anne has experience in leading churches through transitions, including urban, rural and suburban congregations, ranging from small, solo pastor settings to large, multi-staff congregations.  Her interim experience includes supporting and coaching churches through a broad range of strategic, spiritual and structural challenges.

She has also been trained as a Search  Consultant and is available to coach Search teams of all types as they navigate through the Search Process.

Contemporary Spiritual Disciplines: Today’s leaders are confronted with an unprecedented array of spiritual options, some which re-enforce the core mission of the local church, and others which are in conflict with it.  Sorting through this complex landscape, so that effective spiritual conditioning occurs, requires insight and expertise.  Anne’s experience teaching courses in prayer and spirituality at the Annand Program for Spiritual Formation at Yale Divinity School, and her work as a spiritual director in individual and group settings, enable her to coach leaders church leaders to design and implement an effective plan of spiritual disciplines that work for them and for today’s church.
